VICTOGRAIN high-performance abrasive impresses with efficiency – PFERD offers the right design for every coarse stock removal application.
VICTOGRAIN, the new abrasive grain from PFERD. “It is one of the most powerful abrasives in the world,” says Ralf Heimann. He is the product manager for products such as coated abrasives at August Rüggeberg GmbH & Co. KG, the manufacturer of tools for work on surfaces and material cutting, which is based in Marienheide. “One of the reasons for the superior performance of the grain is the triangular, precision-formed shape of the high-performance abrasive.”
The triangles of abrasive grain in the VICTOGRAIN are fixed to the substrate on one of their sides. This means they are very securely fixed in place and together with their slim design, offer an extremely large chip space, which makes the machining process even more efficient. “Even the structural design of the VICTOGRAIN triangles is specially tailored,” continues Ralf Heimann. “The very small crystals inside the triangles ensure optimum wear characteristics.” Very sharp cutting edges are always exposed and only the minimum necessary amount of the abrasive grain or the triangle breaks off.
“During use, the cutting edges of the uniformly sized and shaped triangular abrasive grains of the VICTOGRAIN make contact with the workpiece at an optimum angle,” says the product manager, describing the actual grinding process. This means the individual abrasive grain requires very little energy to penetrate the workpiece. “In this way, the user benefits from an efficient machining process with fast work progress, a long tool life, and a reduced influx of heat into the workpiece.” In regards to the drive system, the requirements are low. VICTOGRAIN tools can be used on standard angle grinders.
“Nevertheless, in regards to performance, VICTOGRAIN exceeds other, established solutions by up to 30 % – with a consistent degree of aggressiveness,” says Heimann. While other abrasives offer a similarly high level of aggressiveness at the beginning of usage, this usually decreases after a certain amount of time in use. “The user would usually respond to this by replacing the tool; this is not the case for VICTOGRAIN tools due to their sustained level of aggressiveness.” Here, the PFERD solution is significantly more efficient.
For coarse stock removal using angle grinders, PFERD offers three different tool types: the classic fiber disc, the patented COMBICLICK quick-mounting, and cooling system, and the CC-GRIND-SOLID system, as a replacement for the grinding wheel. “There’s the right solution for every application here,” says the PFERD product manager. For smaller, hard-to-reach areas, there are also VICTOGRAIN tools in the familiar COMBICLICK range.
VICTOGRAIN tools were first introduced in 2018 and have become very popular, says Heimann: “Anyone who’s witnessed the performance and aggressiveness will not want to pass it up.”
PFERDERGONOMICS recommends a range of VICTOGRAIN tools for sustainably reducing vibration, noise, and dust development, and for improving working comfort.
PFERDEFFICIENCY recommends a range of VICTOGRAIN tools for working for long periods with low levels of fatigue, whilst saving resources and achieving perfect results as quickly as possible.
